Privacy policy

Last updated: 26 October 2026 (newsletter section added)

The short version

You never have to sign up to use the site, we don't sell data, and our tools (like the power cut calculator) run entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to us.

Analytics

We use privacy-friendly, cookie-free analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics) to count page views and see which guides are useful. It doesn't track you across sites or identify you personally.

Newsletter

If you sign up to our newsletter, we collect your email address to send you storm alerts, preparation tips and our latest guides. We only add you after you confirm your address (double opt-in), and every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. Our newsletter is run onBeehiiv, which stores your email address on our behalf. We never sell or share your address with advertisers. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing or emailing us.

Affiliate links

When you click an affiliate link and visit a retailer, that retailer (for example Amazon, or a brand via Awin) may set cookies so they can credit us for the referral. Their own privacy policies apply on their sites.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask what personal data we hold about you (in practice, just your email address if you've signed up to the newsletter or emailed us) and ask us to delete it. Email hello@preparedhousehold.co.uk.
